exhaust pipe size

i am wondering what pipe size i need to run. i am thinking about running a 21/4" or should i run a 21/2" what are some advantages or disadvantages of both.

Most say 2.5" is best for NA maxima's.

2.25" is stock size
2.5" will open it up a little bit and it'll be louder
