You cannot have a "locked diff". Would tear up the car. Limited slip maybe. But if you have maxima in the USA, 99% chance it has an open differential.

You typed the wrong vin in, is it maybe JN1CA21D7ST039387? The car is US bound so it has no LSD, it's OPEN DIF. Either way the answer is in the DAMN FAQ!!!!.

The "A" in the VIN number represnts that American version of the car--therefore no LSD, if you have a "V" int he VIN number its LSD...hope this helps

Linkage, I think you have something mixed up there bud. The A and V things are trans code related, not VIN related. Nothing in the VIN has destination info.

Locking Diff is the universal description used for all LSD, VLSD, HLSD, PosiTrak etc etc especially by the used auto parts industry. Just try a lookup for a trans on carpart.com.

Jime is correct. I just purchased and installed an I30 LSD equipped transmission and it was refered to as a "Locking Differential" Manual Transmission.

You are right, of course, but I think it's a misused term. In the old days a locking diff was one that had been modified so that the spider gear was immobilized. Strictly a straight line drag race thing.

Don't they call them lockers now or something like that? I know they use them on off roading trucks, the modified ones with the huge tires and big lifts.

Off topic a little but on a drag car ive heared that people would open the diff and weld the hell out of it so that the tires would only spin in the same direction. But that would make U-turns almost impossible.
