ignition switch or starter? or fuel pump related?

so just recently, on cold starts, when I put my key in the ignition and go right to "start", the car does nothing, it doesn't even crank, but when I go to the "ON" position and let it sit there for a second...then I crank the key to the "start" position, my car starts with no problem....

now my ignition switch and starter were just replaced a few months ago...

could this be fuel pump related or something??...cause this only happens after my car has been sitting for a while and I don't let the key sit in the "ON" position for a second or two...which primes the fuel pump...before going to "start"...

Turn the ignition to on first, let the battery spread power to everything before starting the car. I personally dont feel its good for the distributer cap but its not based on any actual machanical facts.

We don't have distributers. It sounds like a fuel problem.

Is your Max auto? Mine is and I have same problem. But, if I move it to N, then start the car, it starts every time.

no, it's a 5spd....and I move it into neutral just to be sure and put my clutch pedal all the way to the floor...again, just to make sure....it's acting like when my starter was going...but I just had the thing replaced, so it can't be it...and the ignition switch is new also....so that can't be it either...it sounds like I have to prime the fuel system before it will just start right up...

I don't know if this will help, but when was hte last time you changed the fuel filter? Your fuel pump might be going bad too.

brand new fuel filter (nissan OEM)...and if it was the fuel filter...I would think the car would crank or something....so it sounds fuel pump related.....I am going to throw in a can of BG44K and see if it helps anything....when I put my S/C kit on...I am replacing it with a Walbro 255lp HP anyway...so I will just wait till then and not fix this for now...

I just hope it's not my new starter that is bad...cause this is kinda of what happened...except for the fact that I can put it in the "ON" position and make it work, my car would intermittantly not start...although these symptoms are also shared by the ignition switch problem...(which is new also so it can't be that)...I have a slight oil leak and my timing tensioner needs to be replaced...could that have something to do with it? or maybe that sensor on the clutch pedal that allows you to start the car or not....does that ever go bad?
