Once your floored or downshifted out of 4th gear, pressing the o/d buttom has no effect on your engine or transmission shifting.
Keeping o/d off will stop the car from shifting up into 4th gear and the torque converter from locking up.

He does not explain it right. I know what he is talking about, I have been in his car. We are doing 90, turn OD off. Lets say RPMs are at 5000. Go WOT, and it goes 5100-5200 and then it stops, it will stay at that RPM and will not move foward. Still at WOT and turn OD on, still in 3rd, right when you push the button, the RPMs jump 300-400 and continue to move foward until 6000 where it shifts into 4th.
My car did this once too when I had the EGR code. Mine does not do it anymore. On his car, he has about 75000+ miles and I don't think the EGR is clogged but something else is wrong with it.

It has to do with the EGR system. When I reset my ECU it stops doing that and acts normal. Also, when you manually shift, does it shift different then it does at D? Mine doens't feel as smooth manually shifting as it does when its in D(all WOT).
