Dynomax vs Magnaflow

With the few selection to no selection of a full catback design for us cool 4th genners, I was starting to look into these two companies. I've done a search and read promising reviews on both. Which do you prefer and what is your setup?

im gonna set it up with a warpspeed y pipe and custom b pipe....

I have a warpspeed y-pipe with a magnaflow muffler. Kind of loud in the lower rpms, but after 3k all you hear is intake.

looks like u r going the budget route. U every think of flowmaster? they have these new 40 series mufflers that are supposed to be more quiet than their old ones...i may try one in the future. Dynomax isnt bad, magnaflow, i know a few friends that used to have that and gave it up....too loud everyone says but we all have different levels of loudness.

i think flowmaster should be thrown up there with dynomax and magnaflow.

They are all pretty good choices. Personally I'd go with Magnaflow for a couple of reasons:

1. Lifetime warranty on the muffler
2. Staight though design
3. Their SS series come with tips
4. Polish is very good on them
5. We stock them! <------ shameless plug

The Flowmasters don't flow all that well, they use chambers and baffles to cancel out the sound waves but it isn't the best for flow. They are still not a bad choice. They're pretty cheap.

If no matter what kind of muffler you end up going with, if it's too loud you either went with too small a resonator (or none at all), or too big piping.

i have wsp y-pipe w/ custom b-pipe + magnaflow SS muffler. this setup is fairly quiet w/ nice growl between 2-3k. performance wise it's there, and it's not too showy. i have this setup over 1 year or so... IMO this is more conservertive setup.

yeap. i should be getting my greddy sp2 this weekend and swapping out my custom setup, simply because i want a catback with authority. (greddy is the way to go). and it will not be ricy.

i will have my magnaflow SS muffler for sale once i put my greddy catback on. and it will be bolt-on application... so whoever wants it get ready to look into 4th gen for sale forum.

I don't think anyone has mentioned a straight through type muffler that was even remotely quiet.

Well I mean won't basically all straight thru's be loud. I mean I have a magnaflow and for most of my driving it is nice. Every once and a while I wish it was quieter when I have to keep my speeds really low in first at like 2000 rpm becuase it is a little noisey there. With a resonator though it isn't bad. But I am a pretty young kid who doesn't have that much of a problem with noise as long as it doesnt sound like a dirt bike on crack. I should get some sound clips of my car this weekend..

The greddy sp is... And I believe the RS*R EX mag is straight through, while being quiet.

Yeah I figured that would come. But the Greddy for the 3-gen is only 2.25". How about that RS*R EX?

Ive got a Warspeed Ypipe w/ a custom 2.5" resonated catback + Dynomax super turbo muffler. Sounds nice. Not ricey one bit, has a very deep rumble to it.

I'll give a listen later. BTW. My Y+carsound cat + 2.25" catback+no resonator + y2k muffler is dead quiet at idle and part throttle. It only get louder when you in higher rpm range. That's what I mean by quiet.

I have the alum. steel ws y-pipe that we all got for $160 w/ Dallas' group deal. I also have a PR cai. Get the Greddy sp2. This is whut i'm running and i've gotten soo many compliments about it. It really does free up alot of power with the rest of the exhaust mods done. Underrated if u ask me. Greddy SP2 is SS w/ str8 thru design and honey-comb designed resonator that gives the least about of restriction(instead of glasspacks). AND ITS QUIET! U pay for whut u get.

The Greddy can on the SP's are still my favorite looking muffler. They are an updated BL can, anyone remember those or have I been doing this too long?
