Parts to swap from '01 to '96 engine?

I bought a 2001 3.0 with the 222 hp. Is there any good parts to swap over to my 96 engine? ex- intake, fuel injectors? anything that will give me some extra horses?

Inquiring minds want to know how your 2001 will work if it's missing the fuel injectors...?

He bought the VQ30DE-k and wants to swap parts from that to the 4th gen engine.

IM, and if you got the 5spd tranny.

Just swap the whole engine.

Thats why I bought the motor but the machanic said it cannot be done without buying a $2000 ecu, wire harness to it, and all the custom work to be done. Now I have a complete 2001 motor just sitting here (with the fuel injectors)

He LIED to you.. lol A few members here have down the VQ30DE-K swap into there 4th gens.. Its totally possible I believe you dont need a new wiring harness.. Theres a little custom work I believe but im not sure...

$2000 ECU is crap. You can get one for $50 if you need one from a junkyard.

Its "basically" the same block as the 96 VQ.. the VI is what gives it the extra HP.

You can do either, entire engine or just manifold swap

does anyone know how involved this is? Is it just a true swap or will I need special parts from Nissan?

You'd have to ask krismax or bswithtf... they both did the Intake transplant... I highly highly doubt you'll need any special parts other than swapping things back and forth and getting creative.

If you're asking all these questions chances are you won't have a clue on how to do any of this.

Wal Mart.... jk

Being that you have been playing with maximas for 9 yrs, then you wont need to do a little more research, buy both FSM's and map out the ECU pins from each one note differences. The RPM switches can be bought from Summit or harlan. If you swap just the IM, than read about how it works, and compare the FSM's of both cars to get a good understanding of it all. It has and can be done, it just takes time, and since you've been playing with Maximas since you were 17 yrs old, this should be no problem for you.

O.k. I found a niceone on Ebay. now dose anybody know where the wire is that will give the switch the signal- on the motor or ecu? Second, the wire that needs the switch to controll the VI?

You guys make stuff way to complex put the 00-01 engine in your 96 and just hook up the 96 sensors and wires to the 00-01 engine and search for bswithtf posts and see that he removed the egr stuff and how he did the manifold and TB.
This is the best for someone trying to do this the easiest and cheapest way i suppose.

And get a summit rpm switch $50 from summit its for a v8 so you'll have to adjust for 20% less cylinders.
