Considering this short shifter...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V

I know it is not a B&M, but I spoke with the seller and he assured me that it was NOT aluminum like many of the ones that have been snapping on members. It is stainless steel (same as the B&M) and from the pictures, it bears a strange resemblance to the B&M design. For $80 (versus $145) what do you guys think? I am doing tranny work this week anyway, and I figured it would be a good time to install one.

go stainless

I had to lower my heat shield on my '96 because it was actually rubbing on it and getting me short throw hot. I just had mine snap off 2 days ago, so I had to order another one, but my aluminum one lasted a year then left me on the side of the road the other night. -Go stainless

it's the courtesy nissan shifter

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...=FWDSS-SSK6087

why didn't he just tell you that?

Engineered to shorten the shifter throw in your Nissan. CNC machined from 304 stainless steel and 6061-T6 aluminum, these shifters provide the type of performance you demand.

Reduces shift throw by up to 40%
304 Stainless Steel Stick provides more positive shift feel
6061-T6 aluminum base with bearing assembly
same construction as my B&M, or so it seems to be... stainless lever, annodized aluminum base

There is no reason to get this one over the Pacesetter STS. The PS is even adjustable and the prices are almost the same. If I were to get an STS the PS would be my choice, for now I'll just stick with my cut shifter.

As most of you know the custommaxima shirt throw shifter i acually a pace setter.

GO with the pace setter. I know you can't go wrong with the B&M but you are paying more money for nothing. Lets see....

1. The pace setter is adjustable the B&M isn't
2. The pace setter is cheaper
3. B&M's have broken before. not to often but i happens

The B&M is a great shifter, but for the money and the options go with the pace setter.

Complete in what sense? In the picture it shows parts needed to install the shifter on all the cars mentioned in the auction. When we did the PS STS install we didn't need to use any of the parts shown in the pic meaning they are for either the sentra, altima or whatever other car this STS fits.

sure the pace setter is adjustable, up to 40%

guess what, the B&M is already 40%

so, adjustable, to me, just means more moving parts that can break.

i like my solid, non moving, stainless steel B&M

just my .02c

yea but if you do not like it 40% you have the chance to change it. also the pace setter is shorter than the B&M on acual height. So you **** will look much cleaner unless you hack the B&M.

The pacestter is solid as hell. just because there is a ball on threads does not mean it is not stable. you have a screw you screw into it as well to keep it stable as if it would not already move.

if you get the B&M and do not like the throw well your screwed. Unlike the pacesetter. it is just as sturdy and adjustable.

So does it seem that the Coutesy and the B&M are similar?

I have had a pacesetter for over 2 years, no problems, great shifter. At first I had it too short so I took it apart and adjusted it, which is a nice feature of the pacesetter.

Given Pacesetter's general track record with aftermarket parts (re: monza exhaust, their headers for other cars, etc) I'd definately go with a B&M or Courtesy Nissan part. Funny how Pacesetter makes their shifter out of stainless steel, but they fail to do so with parts that are actually more prone to rust, like exhaust and headers.

Of course pacesetter could have finally gotten something right, and made a great part. Stranger things have been known to happen.

I'd have to say their STS is an exception to that rule. Maxima and Honda guys alike say though while not of Stillen quality, the Pacesetter STS is not crap like the junk they masquerade as exhaust products. I have one on my 3rd gen, and for the money it is a good product.
