1. If you want to run slicks, you want to drag race.

2. You do not need big brakes to drag race

3. Take off the big brakes and you can run 15" wheels.

If you are auto I would use 22x8x15's thats what I use. If manual I would suggest 24's or maybe 26's because 1st gear is pretty low.

I run Mickey Thompson's on a 7" Kosei K1 15" rim but you can run the 23 or 26 M&H's on a 6" so the Millenia rim is the cheapest way to go.

Check here, M&H only make the 2 that will fit on a 6" rim, Mickey Thompson doesn't make any that I know of.

7.5/23-15, MHR-21 $140
6.0/26.0-15 MHR-60 $144

thanks... one more question would road race slicks provide better traction than drag radials?

Not sure on that one.

But drag radials are almost next to useless in comparison to slicks. Don't waste your money like I did trying them out.

If you are planning on running N/A in the 14 second area then traction is not that much of a problem, so DR's may work for you, however if you plan on going quicker than that slicks are a big plus. Mine live in the trunk and it only takes 10 mins to change.

Pawnstar is turbo. Pawn, go with real slicks don't F around with DRs or R compounds if you want to put down some real numbers.

Definitely slicks with your kind of power. Drag radials are very close to just good street tires. Well, that's what they are, just good street tires that can also handle well. If you go with DRs, you will be very dissappointed that you can only get a 2.1 60' or worse. But with slicks, Jime has proven with nitrous helping, 1.7s are very possible.

I assume you haven't run your car at the track yet? I am really curious what kind of times and traps you are capable of with slicks. Please keep us updated. Thanks.

Phoenix also makes a 6.0/26-15 PH366. Available through many of the performance catalogs.

i bring my car to the 1/8 every once in a while. my 60 times are 2.2+ ....yeah they suck! et's are a steady 8.9 - 9.0 ish with around 87mph traps. i get a lot of weight transfer at my launch because i never adjusted my suspension from my street settings.

The problem with DRs is no one has figured out to launch with them because so few of us run them. Slicks are a no brainer when it comes to launching, but DRs take quiet a bit of experimenting. DRs can provide plenty of traction especially the new BFG DRs. I've watched a nitrous Viper pull consistent 1.6s on the stock rims and BFG DRs. The problem we have is we're FWD and have very little torque. It takes a lot of torque to motivate a car into the 1.7 and lower 60 foots. Look at Jime and how much nitrous he uses off the line. 1.9x should be within the realm of BFG DRs. I've pulled 2.10 with no burnout on them. I think getting 2.0 should be pretty easy. Slicks will always out perform the DRs, but saying DRs can't get sub 2.0s is crazy. They can do it because there are plenty of other FWD NA 4-banger imports pulling 1.9s on BFG DRs and only about 130fwtq.
