Remote starter

Hello, I recently bought a 97 maxima GXE and after buying I noticed that it is wired for remote starter and a notice under the hood saying that the car is equipped with remote starter my question is how can I conferm this because the seller never mentioned it to me and no remotes.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Look under the dash (steering wheel) for the brain. find what brand it is and give them a call. 3 tell tail signs of a remote starter are hood pin switch, antenna on windshield, and disarm button somewhere low but accesable.

My 96 has a remote starter but the dealer never said jack..... I took the knee bolster down one day and there it was. I installed them at the time and ended up getting the needed remotes pretty cheaply. God i love them.

My friend bought a maxima and the dealer had ripped the unit out but left the antenna and switches. He took the car back to the dealer and they put a new one in for free. Thats friggen sweet.

What wires did you see?

If he didnt give you a remote for the starter, he probably took it off. The box for the spare key is worth like $50 easy. Can be resellable. Dont keep your hopes up.

Can anyone suggest a good remote starter kit for 4th gen Max?

I have been looking for one that works well and max owners like. I really don't want to pay someone 400bux to buy/install a remote starter.

I checked out the FAQs and related stuffand not sure if there is info there, that I may have missed.

PM Don aka Pearl96Max and ask him. He knows all about that stuff. Too bad you aren't in NJ, otherwise he could just put one in for you as well as just giving you info on it.

There is no write-up on FAQs the last time I checked. I installed compustar 2wfm by myself and it was my first installation. It’s not extremely difficult. You just need some directions. It’s time consuming. Some folks will tell to get viper. It’s also good. Pearl96Max did answer lots of my questions. Good luck.
