knock Sensor problem

not to be dumb or anything, i read codes for Check Engine Light and i found that it was a problem with the knock sensor, it explains about how to check it and everything but first i want to know, is having a bad knock sensor or a damaged knock sensor a bad problem? cost of new one?

thanks for the help.

it's not really such a bad problem but it should be replaced. it will retard your timing and cause you to burn more gas too
