I remember seeing a thread a while ago about cutting your stock shifter, and then re threading it. people said that more than 2 inches was too much. But i did 2.5 and it turned out really good. Its really simple and its free. All you do is cut the shaft down with a hacksaw, take the re-threading tool and your done.
this is pretty much a cosmetic mod, it really doesnt shorten the actual throw, but it does make it easier to shift fast.
this is just temporary untill i get a real STS.
i dont know if im going to get the CM, pacesetter, or the stillin. If you have any pics of your STS please post them, id like to see which one sits the lowest.
Thanx
here are a few pics.

my car is really dirty, im painting the center console, thats y everything is missing. and i didnt realize my boot was all twisted fux0red either.

Some us don't WANT a "real" short shifter. I have the B&M, but it cuts down the throw TOO much for MY taste, so I am going to try a shortened stock stick.
The "debate" about whether cutting down the stock shifter shortens the throw is a rediculous argument. Of course it does. Those who argue it does not are either in politics or simply like to argue for the sake of argument. Cut down the stick to a nub and you could shift with the flick of a wrist, provided you were strong enough. Make the stick even LONGER than stock, and it'd truly feel like you were shifting a truck.

Cutting it down does shorten the throw, but you do not get the same results as buying a real one. It doesnt actually change the engagement location like a real sts does, but if you cut the shaft down where the lower red arrow is, you will get a shorter throw because of where you are holding it. It does make it easier to shift faster in my opinion, and i like the asthetic part of it too.
