Alarm Beep Mod... mod.

Not to crap on anyone's write-up, because after all, I did use it to do the mod on my car and I thank whoever wrote it, it was nicely detailed and easy to follow.

But in looking at the diagram, I noticed that the relay you have to buy is unnecessary. You can connect the buzzer directly to the car's relay. Connect the black wire from the buzzer to the orange wire from the relay and connect the red wire from the buzzer to the green/orange wire from the relay. Basically connect the buzzer where you would have connected the relay and that's it. It'll work as it should and NO, it won't beep when using your turn signals or anything. It'll work just fine.

NO, there is no danger in wiring it this way. If you look at the diagram, the relay you buy, isn't really doing anything. It's not protecting the circuit, it's simply making the circuit power the relay AND the buzzer. And the buzzer is only 5 mA, extremely low amps, the circuit can handle it fine. If it can handle an extra relay AND a buzzer, it can handle the buzzer by itself.

If the intention of the relay was to protect the circuit, there should be a separate power source for the buzzer so that the relay would just be a trigger and the separate power source would power the buzzer. The way it's wired, the buzzer and the relay are both being powered by the car's circuit.

It's not about saving money, honestly, it would just be an extra $4 bucks for the relay. It's just that the extra relay is redundant and adds extra steps to this mod unnecessarily.

Yeah, I've known about this for a while (about not having to use the relay). I've told quite a few people about it on here, and so far so good. It's good that you made a thread about it though...

Oh, and I'm not sure where you positioned the buzzer when you did this mod, but it makes a huge difference if you mount it outside under the rear bumper.

Hmm, I didn't think it would withstand weather. So you have it mounted outside of the car, no problems ? If that's the case, I may move it, it was a little too quiet, I was thinking of moving it up against one of the tail lights, I didn't think about mounting outside.

Yea, I didnt use a relay worked fine for me i didnt use a buzzered though, i used a 118 decible alarm, I like it better then the buzzered makes 2 loud chirps. Also if anyone woundered its safe to mount it out side there is a lil rubber thing you can pop out where the wires are and it leads to the outside-back of the rear bumper and just ziptie it to something. Iv driven through a flood still works fine for me.

Well, you shouldn't have any problems with it mounted outside. I used a zip tie strap and mounted it on a support bracket under the rear bumper. I did make a small cover for one side of mine, just to be on the safe side. I made it out of a rubber dust shield I had in the garage…seems to work fine for me.

It is definitely a huge improvement over having it inside of the trunk…Oh, and like someone posted earlier, there is a rubber grommet in the trunk leading out towards the license plate, I just used that to run my wires…

Excellent, I was gonna look for the grommet tomorrow but now that you've told me, I will mount it where the license plate lights were. I took mine out a long time ago. I went to change a bulb once and they were rusted disgustingly and I've never gotten around to replace them, so now this beeper will go there. I didn't like them anyway and have yet to be stopped for not having them. Thanks.
