Battery

I'm going to attempt to not sound like a total retard and hope that I dont get flamed for being a noob. I just took the battery out of my 98 maxima, its dead. When removing the piece of metal that holds the battery in place, I snapped the bolt off of the screw. I live in chicago, so these bolts were pretty well rusted off. I'm wondering if and where I could get a replacement or if anybody has ideas for keeping it in place. I'm kicking around the idea of just strapping it in place.

thanks

You can get a replacement bolt from AutoZone. Just take the old bolt. They will measure it for length and the correct thread and give you nice shiny new one for under $2 bucks. Just to make sure, take your old nut and make sure it screws on nicely to the new bolt. You can also try a hardware store.

Not a big deal. Good luck.

well...

They arent really bolts, they have a hook end at the bottom and latch into some holes. I ended up just using some zip-ties to hold the battery in place. My goal is to replace the car next summer, so this doesnt have to be a real long term solution.

I'm probably just going to sell the car and take the money from the sale and plunk it down on a 2005 Black Maxima, just like I did seven years ago when I sold my Sentra.

I just bought a replacement battery tie down at Autozone. It came with the hooked bolts.

My car didn't have a battery hold down when I bought it. i drove it for 4 months without one, never lost the battery. Now I have a small bungey cord holding it down. The battery is actually small than it is supposed to be, so it just slides back and forth in the tray. I think I'll go to autozone and get a replacement hold down.
