My horn sounds like a little scooter

So im driving around the city when some idiot pedestrian decides to bolt across my green light. I thought it was a good time to see what my honk sounded like (just got my maxima) but to my suprise it produced a circus/scooter/clowncar !beep! The ped kinda laughed my way and kept running across the street. Now my question is how do i make my horn more threatining? I'm not talking oceanliner fog horn (although that wound be cool for a day) but something that would make people go "oh **** i hope i dont get plowed by this semi-truck or OMG im gonna die

do 5th or 6th gen sound the same? I was hoping there would be an easier solution to getting an air tank and a semi-truck horn

If it sounds really pathetic it may just be that one of your two horns isn't working... wiring problem or maybe your relay is blown.
Does your factory security system work? I don't mean just the blinky lights, but lock your door with the windows down, then reach inside, unlock and open the door. If the horn doesn't honk, it's probably the security relay.

i don't blame him. i think our horns sound like a joke, some sissy horn. can't you just change the horn itself? i have one of those horns from Advance Auto, so i'm thinking of putting that in place of the factory one.

Isn't only one of the horns actually used for honking at people anyway?

Freeway Blasters

I can recommend the FIAMM Freeway Blaster horns. These are very loud electric horns that will fit behind your grill easily. Get a tuned pair -- one high note and one low note. They wire right up in place of the stock meeper.

Mine cost $10 each from Harbor Freight. A bargain.

I don't like air horns because in my experience they quit working after they've been installed for awhile. You do not want to find out your horn quit working when you really need it. Plus air horns take up a lot of space and the sound tends to be annoying.

The Freeway Blasters sound like a big American land yacht and I assure you, you will get "oh, s#*t" looks from people if you blow the horn at them. On the other hand, a light tap and they sound friendly.

no... they're both used... they're tuned to be annoying. If you really want to hear a sissy horn, unplug the one that sits in the engine bay behind the right front headlight. I'm thinking this is the one not working for Emtx; it's linked to the security system.

FYI: the second one is in front of the radiator.

The first time I honked my 4th gen, I was disapointed. My friends laughed at me when I honked it. Even my girlfriend laughed! My third gen had more *****! Actually the third gen sounds pretty good. You might try a swap with one of them.

It would be hillarious if you got VW bug horn in your max. Or an old Mini Cooper horn.

They are both linked to the security system. I don't have an engine bay horn. I took it out to attempt to clean it up even more. I'll be glad to send you mine for $5+shipping if thats your problem.

hmm... well, in that case, I have no idea what's wrong with my alarm. The horn won't work when it goes off. My own fault though. I know little about wiring and didnt' think I needed the relay that came with my air horns. I hooked it straight up to the power wire going to the horn in the bay.
It honked once and never again.
So I hooked up the relay to the power wire from the other horn (radiator) and IT works fine now; except for the alarm.
There's a bunch of relays in a box in front of the factory airbox. One of them is marked HORN. I read in one of the stickies that that is probably the problem. But if both horns are linked to security I'm not sure why it doesn't work.
