Need to replace brakepads & Rotors..need recomendations

All the noise from brakes is driving me crazy and i need to change the pads and rotors. Can anyone recomend what is good out there? i am not looking for ultra high performance, just something compared to OEM which doesnt make noise and is low in brake dust. thanx in advnace

Look under the brakes section.

OEM pads are not bad at all (don't get the Value Line, though). Pads are ceramic, low-dust, and last a long time. What causes the sqealing is vibration which can be fixed using an anti-squeal compound applied to the back of the pads. Unless your pads are worn-out, which means you are hearing the warning sound deliberately built-in to the pads.

I'm currently running the Akebono ACT Ceramic pads available from www.tirerack.com. They are excellent street pads. Also running new rotors which are the plain Brembos. Happy so far.

Get a nice set of rotors, like Nappa or Brembo's.
Run a ceramic pad for quiet operation, less brake fade and a bit less dust.
Flush your brake fluid when you put the new brakes in, that makes a huge differance in braking performance.

go brembo

I put in brembo drilled only with PBR deluxe ceramic pads and they bite really hard, and are quiet. They don't seem to be dusting very much at all. While your down there, you might as well paint your calipers. It makes a huge difference visually.

You pay more, but get less for starters. People usually buy these for looks. It's a bling-bling thing!

These rotors make more noise on braking, and may not last as long as the plain rotors they are produced from. The cross-drilling can encourage cracking under thermal stress.

The rationale for slotted and cross-drilled rotors comes from the past when pad materials outgassed more than modern pads of today. Even then, it only made sense for racing.
