rpm

i had cruise control on for 68 and my rpm was about 2400, is that too high or too low. any info. would be great

That's about right.

The relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed is determined by the transmission gear ratios and differential ratio.

On this point, Daniel B, how is it that people claim that their "RPM's go down for a given gear and speed" as they add mods (exhaust or CAI or whatever). It seems to me that this is totally impossible with a manual transmission and highly unlikely with an automatic at highway (cruising) speed. I have seen this on a Maxima website before.

You are right. The person who posts about an RPM drop is sincere but mistaken. It is similar to the way some people swear their car drives more smoothly after a wash/wax job. It's pyschological.
