Wife just called, accident, need advice!
Hi guys,
My wife just called, there was an accident in which our Max is damaged.
Some construction contractors are working at my place, they let plywood material sitting beside my drive. Strong wind today and the plywood got blown and smashed in the front side panel of our Max. What is the best course of action from this point???
Thanks in advance for your advice!!!!

Depends.....
If the car was already parked there and the contractors put the wood near it, I'd say talk to them in a calm, reasonable tone (this is key) and request for them to deduct the damages from the price of your home construction. Offer them options such as doing something additional on your home that would be a similiar value to your deductible or damages depending on your coverage.
Now, if the wood was already there FIRST, regardless of where or not it was in the parking area, and your wife parked near it, I'd say it was your wife's mistake. Call the insurance company, pay the deductible/repair.

Unfortunately this sounds like what insurance companies call "An act of God." Most of them wont do much for you. It would also be hard to prove that the constuction company was neglegent in not storing/securing the pile of wood properly. How much damage is it? Is it worth the headache? Best bet maybe to try and get a comprehensive claim throu your insurance (i.e. vandalizm) Stupid teenage kids.....yeah must have been the teenage kids....

First, thanks for the quick responses.
I will get home and see the level of damage, I asked my wife to take some pictures. It sounds like a long shallow dent, 18" long and 1" dent, some paint scratched off.
I called my insurance, the agent said my comprehensive covers flying objects and it won't affect my future premium. With a deductible of $300(CAN).
I will contact the construction company and have a civilized dialogue and see how it goes. I will keep you guys posted.
