1. how bad is it to be driving around with a bad o2 sensor??
It isn't all that bad, you will get poor gas mileage and some power loss, if you let it go for too long you might run into starting problems [not positive on that one, someone correct me if i'm wrong]

2. how hard is it to install one myself??
Not hard at all, easier if you buy ht e socket designed to remove them, If it is the "upstream o2" it is in the exaust pipe between the exhaust manifold and the cat conv..

3. how much should the part cost??
Should run you about $100 give or take a few $$

4. whats a good site to order one from??
Just go to Autozone or pepboys or the dealer. They should all stock them.

There is a write-up in the FAQ's done by THT, here is the link

Well I'm getting 20.4 mpg because of my bad 02 sensors. That explains a whole lot. I will be ordering them today from www.oxygensensors.com. They give a discount to maxima.org members.

10% discount if you order over the phone by credit card

15% discount if you order through mail by sending a check

Call 1 866 441 7039. I've heard nothing but good reviews about the "Walker" oxygen sensors. Do not get the universal ones.

They run about $57 with the 10% discount.

Bottom line: order theses asap!

Definetly agree with if you go too long with them bad youll ultimately runinto starting problems cause this mourning car woudlent start and I had 3 bad O2 sensors...I guess you can say im a good example of what happens if you go to long without getting them fixed...I saw my maxima on the back of a pick up truck.

try to get it done as quickly as possible its makes a major differnece with gas mileage. My max was getting 13 mpg when I first bought it and the wonderful ses light came on 2 months later for o2 sensor. I bought a walker oem replacement and now im getting 24 mpg. Its about a 20 min install assuming you have o2 sensor socket available.
