Need to make paint (Emerald Black) duller, more yellowish.

This is kindof retarded.
I have a 96 emerald black maxima SE.
Ok, someone hit my car a month ago, and they had it fixed, and side repainted. It's a pretty close match, but under direct light, it glows brighter (more greenish) then the old paint. It's one of those deals where the car looks black in shadow, and glows green in light. The old paint looks a little more dull and yellowish. It was a pretty good body shop from what I can see, because all the other cars there were bimmers and Benzes. The guy said that the old paint faded with time, maybe he was BSing. I would guess the emerald black would be one of the harder colors to match, because it looks different in shadow or light.
Anyways, I don't know if they I can ever get the paint to match exactly, but if there is some way to make the old paint look more dull and yellower , I would like to know it.
Also...
1. How much resale do I lose from this inperfection given a 96Max with 82K?
2. Ho much would a complete paint job set me back?
Thanks a bunch.

BTW, My sig shows the side where the car was hit. As you can see, in the shadow you can't see it was painted.
Front fender to rear door painted. Rear fender not.

Did they only paint the damaged part, or did they 'color blend' or spray more than they were supposed to so that the color faded into the rest of the cars color?
1.)Hard to say, but if its very noticable, it could be a considerable amount(~1000?)
2.) A really thought one, meaning a complete paint job of the entire car? About $3000.

Only the front door was damaged.

However, the guy repainted the front fender, and both side doors.
Oh, if it's 3K to repaint the car, forget it. I paid 10K total for this puppy.
Since I plan to keep it for 2-3 years, and it's value will drop to about 7K or less by then, esp with the miles I am putting on it, I don't think it's that important now. However, If there is a way to artificially fade the new paint, I would do it. I think if it was more dull and glowed less bright under light, it would make me happier.
It's mainly so I don't have to stare at it every day.
P.S. I am so glad I didn't buy a new one. If someone did that to my new car, that would suck.

Has anyone else noticed it? We tend to notice things about our cars that other people don't. If other people don't notice it, I wouldn't worry about it too much, but then again, I know that stuff like that bothers me too. Just enjoy the ride.

It's noticeable.

Although the old lady across the street says it looks as good as new. Then again, she is the one who hit it
Actually, her brother owns the body shop that fixed it, and they did a pretty good job, aside from the new paint looking fresher then the old.

New paint/old paint...

Same thing happened with my car. It's "graphite metallic"... a kind of purplish-grey color that looks black from time to time as well. The front fender on the driver side was hit and the grille and bumper cover were also damaged. When they painted it, they blended the hood, driver side door and right fender to keep the paint from being as noticable. Although I can tell, nobody else has mentioned the difference.

The guy was telling the truth though, it will fade and before long you won't be able to tell the difference. Darker color cars are like that. I had a black Beretta once that bit the back end of a Camaro.. hood, bumper and both fenders were fixed and painted. They DID NOT blend the paint into the rest of the body panels. Looked AWFUL! Almost two totally different colors, grey in back and black in front. I never realized how bad the paint had faded.

Heck, you may not even be able to tell by the end of the summer. Until then you might want to refrain from polishing/waxing the newly painted parts as much as the rest, to help keep the shine down. Just a thought.

Good idea.

THe guy mentioned polishing the rest of the car more to refresh to original paint, and not the new paint. I will try this. Has anyone tried that meguar's 3 step program Cleaning/Polishing/Waxing. Is it good, or just a gimmick to get you to buy 3 different products? I just saw that at pep boys.

Wow! You mean I actually came up with an idea that the Max-Guru's hadn't thought of?? Cool! Now I REALLY feel good. Installed my clear bumper lights by myself AND impressed the Maximaniacs all in one day! I'm on a roll!

I haven't tried the Meguiar's stuff you're talking about before.. but I hear the rest of their stuff is supposed to be really good.
