im thinking of purchasing some 6000K XENON HID H3 & H4 SUPERWHITE XENON BULB for my headlights and foglights. has anyone tried these and will they burn my wires and headlight/foglight covers??? can i go higher like 7000k or even 8000k without harming my car and will it make any difference? thanks.
Hey i wouldint reccomend buying cheap bubls of Ebay becuase it will mess up your head light from the heat and since our head lights are plastic they will get FCKED UP and if the wattage is very high it will melt sockets and wires so i would save up and buy a real hid kit that uses low wattage and will look good
dont have money for a conversion kit so what are my other options? i currently have Sylvania SilverStar Halogen Bulbs 9004 ST/2 and stock foglights but feel they are not bright enough. any suggestions for headlight and fogs??? thanks.
Xenon is a gas used in HID lamp fixtures, halogen is the convetional gas used in ordinary halogen bulbs.
Are you referring to actual HID's or just bulb a manufacturers claimed color temperature?
The higher the (K) Kelvin rating, the lower the light output.
Max light output, I think it is sunlight, is approximatly 5.4k which is considered white light, anything below that is yellow/red, anything above that is blue/violet.
If you're not referring to HID's, than they will melt your wire harness if they are rated higher than the stock bulb wattage, stock wattage for 4th gens are 45/65W in a 9004 bulb I believe, I have even had some melt my harness with a stock replacement bulb wattage.
If you have a 4th gen, H3 type bulb can be used in your fog lamps only as your headlights are 9004, unless you've converted the wiring harness from 9004 to H4.

i guess ill stick with my Sylvania SilverStar Halogen Bulbs 9004 ST/2 for headlights but what wattage is good for my foglight upgrade? thanks.

For fog lights I would recommend sticking to something closer to stock output. I'm using Narva rally gold fogs right now. Great light output for fogs. They're brighter than my crappy stock headlight bulbs right now. But take warning that if you do replace the bulb with a higher wattage make sure that you upgrade the wire to 16 gauge and coat the connector and wire with silicone compound. If you don't then you might run a higher risk of burning you fogs out.Originally Posted by browne
is 5000k for fog lights ok for replacing my stock fog lights? or should i go lower?
BTW i've had my narvas (85w) for about 6months no blow outs. **knock on wood**
