95-96 TS auto ECU in 98 auto GXE?
I called Brian from Technosqaure after reading Cheston's informative thread regarding the $400.00 Maxima.org GroupBuy for 95-96 TS ECU's modding ignition timing, a/f ratio, and now the increased rev-limiter. I talked to Brian and he said that they have never attempted to put a 95 or 96 ecu in a 98, and he couldn't predict the outcome. He said he would try it, but he wouldn't promise anything plus they charge like 50-75 bucks/hr for labor and stuff. I have heard of some 97's and 98's running JWT or TS 95 or 96 ecus with cel. Wut do u guys recommend? Is it possible and should i do it? My money's right I just need the green light from u guys.

I have a 98 i30 (same car if you didn't already know) and I run a 95 Geforce (same company as TS) ECU. I do have a CEL but I've been running my car with this ECU for a year without any problems other than the light. There is a slight difference in one of the sensors between the different years and that is why you get the CEL but no ill effects. There is a thread on here about how you can clear that particular code by doing a small re-wire to your ECU and I believe changing the sensor that causes the light to come on. The only negative to me is that if my car had a problem that would trip the CEL, I would have no idea because the light is already on. I do run the codes from the ECU every once in a while to make sure that everything is OK. I also kept my stock ECU on hand in case I need it. The advantages of running the TechnoSquare ECU far outweigh this one disadvantage IMO, you get a nice power increase seemingly throughout your entire powerband.
