If your problem with gas milage just started in the past few weeks and it has been getting cold in your area then that is directly effecting your gas milage. this comes up every fall/ winter.

don't think it's the cold... I live in central florida and this past week was the first sign of cold weather that we've seen so far. My mpg has been bad for about a month or so, and didn't get bad until a couple of weeks after I installed my CAI

I get about 800 miles to the tank, doing 99% sidewalk and 1% freeway. No lie.

mine`s automatic.
350mi on 15 gal. comes out to about 23 mpg. that`s with 80% hi-way going 70 ish mph, whenever i am going local i try not to go over 1500rpm

BTW I took it to LasVegas once. Started with a full tank and by the time I got there (275 miles) it only used up a little less then half a tank, I was going at 80 to 100 the whole trip and not to mention I turned off over drive whenever it goes up hill. I could have made it back with one tank but didn`t want to take the risk.
IMO These car nets VERY good gas millige for what it is,

ON HWY ONLY

One thing that can cause bad city mileage is old front o2 sensors. They can cause the car to run overly rich because they take too long to heat up in city driving. On the highway they are fine because the max has time to heat up. Bad city mileage and good highway mileage= change 2 front o2 sensors!!

I average about 26.7 mpg with 80% highway(70 mph avg) and 20%(40 mph avg) city. Althought last week i only got 24 mpg with same driving. Might be from the cold weather we had started to get as the longer running heat ups takes more fuel or maybe my stupid evap purge valve that keeps giving CEL after I replaced it a month ago might be affecting my milage somehow.

I have averaged 22 city and 29 hwy since I bought the car. Just follow all the recomendations in the owner's manual and you should be fine.

I made a 300 mile round trip last week on the interstate. I set the cruise control on 70 and my Max got 32 mpg.

I recently made a trip from TN-MD (and back again), and I got 444.8 miles on a tank cruising at I believe 80 or 85 the entire way (I love 70 MPH speed limits).

before my knock sensor went I had gotten 485 miles off 17.5 gallons on a road trip, and regulary got 400 in mixed driving...
I just replaced the KS... I have a bad feeling that there is something else wrong...

I drive hard as hell but i do warm my car up before i leave and still mangage to get 350-400 miles. I got a new fuel filter a few months ago and that thing did help improve the gas mileage.

I'm getting about 20MPG for my 97 Max and thats right before my indicator lamp comes on, so I probably have about 2-5 gallons left. I heard that our tanks are 18.5Gallon.

so here's whats weird. i used to get 400 a tank all the time and lately i've been gettin a lot less. and my gas gauge has been acting funky too. last week i ran out of gas at 360. completely and it said i had about a little less than 1/4 and when i fill up it says im 1/4 low. then about 50 mi later it says full. i used to get about 100 mi/ quarter tank and now im at 1/4 and 250. what had made my milage drop so drastically? is it a knock sensor. i checked for codes but i got nothing. could it be the CAI? it was fine for a long time then the same time i changed from RAM to injen style CAI w/ k&N filter it went to ****. i know its not it, but im going back to check and its a huge coincidence.

What's the deal with people who don't know how to properly calculate gas mileage? "300 a tank", "400 a tank". Whattabuncharetards. I calculate gas mileage by filling up to the auto shutoff, then reset my trip odometer. Next time I fill up, fill up again to the auto shutoff, and divide the odometer reading by the gallons just put into the tank. Any other method and you might as well not bother.

FWIW, my car is getting 21-24mpg in mixed driving, and 25-26mpg highway. I feel the highway number is a little low, and I'm not sure why yet. Perhaps a problematic accessory like the alternator, idler pulley, or PSP.

Well I was getting very poor milage like 200-205 per gallon and I changed my O2 sensors as well as install a CAI. Now I get upwards of 450+ when i drive like and old lady. But when I feel like a speed demon I get abou 375-400.

I just bought a 95 GLE with 280k miles!
The drive home (from north carolina to dallas) I wrote down each fill and reset the trip odometer

My results:
I averaged 30mpg!! wow

I usually drove it down to half a tank and then filled it back up.
1st fill: 33mpg... (friend drove)
2nd fill: 27mpg... (I drove)
3rd fill: 31mpg... (friend drove)
4th fill: 28mpg... (I drove)

That's all highway... I've gotten 34mpg driving all highway before... City/Hwy mix will vary... I just filled up to the tune of 14 gallons for 308 miles... 22mpg.

I have a 95 Maxima, 17" wheel w/ 215/45 tires, everything stock under the hood. I got around 360 miles per tank, about 20-21mpg mixed.

Factory guesstimates are 18 mpg auto/19 mpg 5 speed city// and 27 mpg 5 speed/ 28 mpg auto highway. Some people drive like old ladies and others mash the pedal any chance they get. You could get about 400 all highway all the way down to 250 a tank all city stop and go, waiting in traffic, heat on or ac doesn't help either.

I have a 95 GLE w/156k on it. I get about 270/tank with a lot of short trips and rare highway trips. Last time I calculated, it was about 17.8 MPG, 95% city. It was much worse (about 14.5-15.5) before I changed my fuel filter and plugs.

It's a shame mine gives me flack about starting up right before I head a few miles to the station and do a 16.8-17 gallon fill... I've almost had it stall out on me getting to the station when I put 17.5 in it. =/

Getting about 400 miles per tank while driving it hard. Different gas stations give me different results even while pumping premium...

Yeah, the gas you use does make a diffrence. When I use BP I usually get way better milage than when I use Chevron.

Probably your knock sensor, put a 470K ohm resistor in its connector and see if you get better mileage. If you do you need a new knock sensor, about $70,
almost anywhere. Could be a O2 sensor, but I would check codes first and see if any come up.
