i wanted to know what to expect to pay at the mechanic for installation, assuming i dont need any other parts.
also are there any other parts that i should replace while doing this?
thanx

I know it depends on the area to an extent, and the local Raleigh area tends to be more expensive than anywhere in the Southeast, but I swear, I've called 10 places locally about this and installation + alignment has never been less $250 or so. I've called the chains, the mom & pops, and even service stations, but never less than $250.

1) What kinds of places can you get the best prices from? Can anybody in NC help me? Any bright ideas for areas like this?

2) How hard is it to do it yourself and what would I need to do it?

Yep, well I got quoted from this one place right around here for $360 including alignment and all. Glad I got it done for less than $150 from an org member.

Typically you get the best deals from private mechanics. Those into import tuning will give you the average price. Again, $150 all around is fair.

Who did it for you and where were they? I'm less than 3 hours away. Did the orger have a way of getting alignment included in that price as well?

Blaze - check out this thread.

You should probably pick up new strut mounts for the front if they were never changed before. Maybe dust boots all around if they are damaged.

If I were you,I'd do it myself. It's not that hard.I put on my KYB AGX on Eibach pro kit springs and it didn't take long. All you need is a spring compressor from the auto shop that you can rent for free.

I do installs for $125. I'm only 15 minutes over the GW bridge, about a 50 min. drive from Brooklyn.

phenryiv1 did it for me, PM him maybe and talk to him, it's kinda a long drive as you said though. And no, he doesn't have a shop or anything and doesn't do alignment. I'd recommend him, he's experienced with this stuff and likes doing it, won't charge you a lot at all either.
