RPM Question

Is it possible to lower RPMS when idling without going to a dealer? I reset my check engine by unpluging the computer(the one you check codes one) and plugging it back in. the check engine reset and my RPMs went from 650 to like 800-850. how can i lower them back.... thanks

Did you wait until the car was fully warmed up to check the idle RPMs? (Assuming you were in Neutral).

He has manual so being in gear (with clutch in) shouldn't matter like it would with a auto in drive.

Look at FAQs and How tos.

adjust the IACV. You may want to clean it and Throttle body later or if problems persist.

You can make some adjustment using the black plastic screw on the idle control valve, but for the most part the idle is controlled by the computer. Make sure your car is warmed up and all lights a/c etc. are off.
