Don't pay for something you didn't ask them to do...

If you asked to fix your starter, and they just decided on their own to put on an exhaust, then tell them to go to hell, tell them to put back your own exhaust and if they don't have it anymore, then tell them that they can forget about you paying for the new exhaust, unless they are willing to get legally sued.

Starters run for about ~$170+ so no real rip off there
front brakes seems like a good price, but what kind of pads where they?

as for the exhaust I think you probably could have gotten a decent aftermarket exhaust or custom catback for around that price plus have some performace gains.

dont think you got raped too much.

just read that you didnt ask for most of the work they did to be done, but if you dad green lighted them to finish the work then there is nothing you can do now, unless they havent started yet, then you might still have time to cancel some of the work.

Why pissed? Those are fair prices. Looks like they did extra stuff to. If you cannot perform your own work, don't get upset when you receive a high repair bill. Especially when you seem to have a fairly honest mechanic.

Save money and do some of it yourself if you have already paid, then oh well.

Get better acquainted with your vehicle so you know what is wrong when a problem arises.

yah, you should have definitely put the starter in yourself, its really simple, plus I got a rebuilt one for 80 bucks. Haynes manual is good for life.
