90k service
90k service
Hi,
I have a 97 Maxima. It has about 92k miles on it. Its time for the 90k service. I have always avoided service through dealer as they always rip you off. I take care of my car really well. I have been doing repair/serivce through a mechanic I know.
I want to do the 90k service through dealer just because its a significant service and I want to do it right. Last time when I did 60k mile service, I got a bill of 600 bucks. I am sure this one going to be 800+.
My question is(sorry for long post), Is it enough to do just the items listed in the maintenance log book? In that case, I can ask my mechanic to specifically do those items. Is there anything else that needs to be done for 90k miles service to avoid future break? Whats the approximate cost for such service?
Thanks!

Assuming you did the 60k service (or that it was done as recommended by the book), just follow the recommendations as listed in the book.. the dealer charges 20% for the work required and 80% for the "inspections".
The only items that may not be listed that you may want to have done as extra maintenance (depending on when you had them last done) are tranny fluid drain/fill or flush, and coolant drain/fill or flush.
I don't think the 90k is a big service interval - probably shouldn't be more than 300 bucks at a mechanic (including the cost of two things I mentioned above).
