Aftermarket Steering Wheels

The steering wheel on my car is huge and honky. I feel like im driving a bus and furthermore the effort is too light and there isnt much communication with the tires. I know replacing the steering wheel wont fix all of this, but it will at least look cooler and not as big as the stock one.

Now, will I pass inspection if I replace my stock wheel, that has an airbag, with an aftermarket wheel without an airbag? Is this legal to do?

And what are some good wheels that are relatively inexpensive, look good, and fit on our cars?

It's illegal, you will not pass state inspection (if you have one in your area).

However if you want to do it, it definitely can be done. I believe Momo makes a custom hub adapter for our cars, so you can buy almost any wheel and bolt it on. From what I've read, people who did these were happy and said steering feel did improve noticeably.

Good post. I've gotta start shopping. It's either replace my wheel or buy a new open face helmet...

I've got a 12.5" MOMO Monte Carlo steering wheel in mine. There's pics on my cardomain site. I like it a lot better than the stock one. My car was wrecked when I bought it so the airbags were already gone.

I hate our steering wheels, too wide in diameter and the rim isnt thick enough. But I like having the airbag

Thats one of the reasons why I wanted a 97-99 SE...all the others came with even worse steering wheels.
