5-speed, hard to change gears

I've noticed that it's much harder to shift gears than it was when I first got the car. got 120k on it now and it takes a bit of pressure the put it in gears, even when I rev match just right. Downshifting is especially difficult, and I often double clutch instead of "shoving" it into gear.

I don't hear any grinding, and it still goes into gear if I give it a good shove. What could be the cause of this?
PS: I also hear a hissing noise when I push the shifter against first and second.

make sure the gear oil level is correct in the tranny and maybe your synchros are goin bad.

I think u can find that at the local part store. I went with valvoline and i like the way it shifts. BUt yeah i was getting hard shifts when i didnt have enough gear oil. Just do a tranny flush while ur at it, it helps.

I just had a crappy time with this whole ordeal yesterday...

All of a sudden three days ago I noticed my gears were a LOT more notchy than normal and it was difficult to get into gear. Well I tried the clutch fluid flush, but it didn't work... I'm pretty sure it's a pretty big leak somewhere in the line because yesterday it didn't go into gear AT ALL. So I had it towed and now it's at a transmission shop.

Thank God for AAA.

alright, ill change the oil then.
also could be my synchros... when I first got this car it was my first manual...did some really really bad shifts. I also have the tendancy to floor it a lot, but this would only wreck synchros on 1st and 2nd, wouldn't explan why it's harder than normal on all gears.

and by harder than normal I don't mean really hard... its still perfectly driveable ...just not as easy as when I got it.

worn synchros pretty much the symtoms im describing? Is there a good test to find out if it's the synchros?
