I'm starting to get into racing and modifying engines and new stuff like that. The thing i want to know is that will modifying the engine hurt the engine or shorten the life span of the maxima? For example, installing a new high performance intake, exaust, turbo or supercharge, etc. Where can i learn more about the parts? What is the best thing to start with???

I say the best and first things to get are a front strut tower brace (FSTB) and a rear sway bar (RSB).

For under $200, you can dramatically improve your Max's handling.

The FSTB will tighten up your steering so your steering will feel a lot more solid.

The RSB will reduce body roll. When you make that long sweeping turn on the highway at 60 mph and you feel like you're going to fly out your window, that will disappear with the RSB.

And the best way to learn about these things is to keep on reading posts on this board!

Welcome to Maxima.org!

Mods seem to change driving habits.

I don't know if this is the case with everyone, but with me the more mods I have the harder I like to drive my car. You're more apt to drive a car like a race car when it looks/feels/sounds like one. Your wallet will prob. take a beating too! Welcome to the wonderful world of modification. And like clee130 said, this is the place to learn. You will be here ALOT.

When you say that the FSTB with tighten up your steering, does this mean that the steering wheel will "shake" or "shimmy" less? Especially at high speeds or when driving over less than smooth roads? Because my steering on my 97 GLE often times feels "loose" kinda. I had a Mitsu Diamante and the steering wheel was much more solid (tight) even under rough road conditions. How does the FSTB improve on the steering and what would the price of one cost? Any info is appreciated!

FSTB- tightens steering not as in the actual steering wheel itself. It tightens it as in having the car lean less in turns. It does not allow the body of the car to flex and lean while turning. stiffens the car during turns which causes it to "tighten"
