Ideas on remote start

I'm thinking about adding a remote start to the Max, esp since winter has made a sudden entrance here in MI. Any suggestions on what kinds out there are good?

i have the Viper 791xv 2-way security and remote start on my 5 spd.....its great and distance is pretty good.....viper and clifford are made by DIRECTED.....both very good brands to go with.....but since u r plannin on gettin a remote starter, spend alittle more and get a 2-way cuz it actually tells u when ur car is started rather than pushing the button and NOT knowing if its started or not

haha, same here...loud azz magnaflow. i'm lookin to get a remote start too. my mom just got a viper on her Saturn. It's really nice, has a turbo timer feature, aux. input for remote trunk, lock, unlock, and a bunch of other features. It's the Viper 160XV.

haha, the muffler looks better in person. no, you have to use the remote that is given to you with the kit. i was just looking at Code Alarm systems made by Audiovox and saw that they were getting pretty bad reviews, so you might want to stay away from those. It seems like Viper is the way to go in remote starts...i know their reputation is pretty good.

viper's remote start is nice, but I thought you shouldn't let your car warm up for more than 2-3 mins? I dont know, but there's a whole damn thread about it.

viper 791 would also be my choice

sounds like Viper has some good products for remote start. What would you guys recommend for install so I don't end up w/ a place that'll mess up my electrical system?

I got the DTexx Car Page Extreme 2 way alarm-remote start. It's pretty sweet, has a built in timer so the car will only run for 10 minutes or however long i set it to. Tells me interior temperature from the remote, which doors are opened or tampered with, and even has a button in the car I can press to find the remote if i lose it.

I have the omega max-e w/echo. It's 2-way alarm/remote start combo. It can be programed for tach and tachless, manual, auto, and turbo. It has like 30 other programing options. I got this one instead of the viper since the viper doesnt support 5spd.

Get it done only by someone who's an authorized dealer. Don't buy it over the internet and get it installed. It's a warranty issue.

here's what I found on Viper's site

http://www.viper.com/security/viper/viper_rs.asp

it shows 2 models, the 160XV and the 130XV, has anyone had experience w/ either and have kept the OE keyless/security system?

yeah, on my moms car with the 160XV, it turns on her CEL only when she starts it with the remote, but otherwise causes no problems.

exactly. I think it has to do wit hthe car seeing two keys, i remember seeing something about it in the bypass kit, there was an extra wire for bypassing the bypasser(if that makes sense) when a key is inserted, so the ecu only sees one key. Im atake it to the guys who installed to have em chec kthat wire.

I think it might be possible but not to the panic.. Im thinking if you relay it to the stock window roll down modual. That instead of rolling hte windows down it will start the car. So technicaly it is possible. But i just decided to stick with the viper 791xv
