Remote starter advice.

I'm looking at remote starters for my 95 GLE as I now live in a 3rd floor apartment and I can't just run out and start the car and go back inside while it warms up.

Are the cheap ones ($50-$100) a waste of money? I just need the starter, not anything that deals with alarms or anything.

Also, I've heard they are relatively easy to install, is there anything to be aware of during the install?

thanks in advance.

Oh, it is an automatic.

I thought about just getting a remote starter but I decided to go with the Clifford remote starter with alarm.I think it's the 3.2.It's from Best Buy and it's their top model.I paid about $400 total. It's well worth it though.I can start the car a half block away. The only thing that sucks is that it only comes with one remote. But as for just remote starters....Wal*Mart has the Bull Dogs that's pretty easy to install and cheap....

Stay away From Bulldog. I spent many hours on the phone just trying to get them to tell me why I couldn't get there factory alram bypass module to work(In a Tahoe with passkey II). They never did answer my question just kept quoting what was in the manual. I got frustrated and bought another company's module and no problems. Don't go cheap. I've installed lots of these units from different Manufacturers (not in my Max yet).

I too have heard bad things about bulldog, from wires shorting to burning out starters. Local shop here won't even install them.

I've got the Viper alarm with remote start. I don't think you should install a remote starter by yourself, but rather get a shop to do it. All together was about $400 remote with the autotarter with the alarm + installation.

If you go to BestBuy you can buy the Avital 4000 and have it integrated into your stock clicker. Three hits of the lock button will start the car up and three hits again would turn it off. The system will cost you about $170-200 installed with lifetime warranty on the unit and labor.

and yes i work for BestBuy and install these on a regular basis, i wouldnt attempt this on the Max unless you have experiance installing and working with DEI's products.
