Clearence light mod Question..

Whats up fellas..

After cutting the higher nib, and reversing the bulb the clearence lights are brighter. Both filments are lit, and the difference is amazing.

Is this bad for the wiring? Will it mess up anything? Will it break the lense or anything?

Please need feedback..

It'll cause more heat since the bulb is using both its filaments 24/7 when its only meant to use one most of the time. The effect will be shorter bulb life span but I say its worth it.

It's not using both filaments, it's using the other filament but it will cause more heat.

If you're worried about the heat, get LED bulbs and mod those, brightness without the heat.

I already did mod it, i just worr about heat.. why do you have to cut the nib off anyways and turn the blub? If u put the bulb the normal way not backards would the light look normal again?

because the bulb is a 2 filiment bulb, cutting the nub makes it one, the bright fiement only.

Yes it will look normal again, it just might have a chance of falling out of the sockett a little more than if you hadnt cut the nub off. I've had this mod done for over 2 years and everything is fine. You'll go through bulbs a bit faster, maybe every year or so. One of my lenses was cracked from doing this mod, but you cant see it because it cracked even with the lines on the lense.

cheep bastids choppin off nubs!

FYI the nubs are there so you dont insert the bulb the wrong way. They are not the contacts. The bottom has the 2 positive contacts and the whole base is ground. If you cut one off it will fit loose either way you insert is. But its no big deal.
