usually the leaking inbetween the engine and tranny is a sign to replace the rear main seal. But I don't think that's what it is in your case. My car was dropping about a quart of oil every 3,000 mi and I noticed a leak between the tranny and engine. I changed my tranny oil and the correct amount was in there. Eventually the clutch died and I had the rear main seal replaced as recomended by my mechanic now my engine oil doesn't go anywhere.

Could be the input shaft seal. A leak there would end result in oil at the engine/tranny interface.
