Did i get screwed?

i got my clutch replaced at my friend's dad's shop. he owns the place, so i figured hed give me atleast an honest price, but the clutch job alone ran up to $1066.00. i dont know if thats good or bad, but it seems a bit steep. anyone know if this is about right, or is it just that i live in a ridiculously expensive town (average house price is $1,000,000 for a 2-3 bedroom) i know thats off topic, but it gives background on how bloody expensive everything is here, so yeah, just post your opinions on that price. thanks.

i remember that when i got my clutch replaced in my eclipse, it was very expensive as well. most of it was labor though. i think it's around $5-700 just for the labor plus the price of the parts.

For $75 you also got a crap clutch installed...probably key value. Always get a quote first and come here and ask about it if it seems wrong (or you just have no idea).

sadly you got screwed, and even more than if you went to the dealer.

Every nissan I've been quoted, said ~$800 for the job. about $200 to take out the tranny, another $200 to put it back in, new clutch OEM (not key value) , and additional labor.

sorry

Yea you got screwed nicely... sounds like he might not be too experienced in doing clutches on our cars hence he got mad and charged you a little more.

they shgould make clutches easier to replace. i know there is not much you can do about it, but $600 to instal a $125 part is crazy. I am going to have to do it soon!
