Question about recalls ...

http://www.alldata.com/TSB/41/97416157.html

I went to that site and checked out recall information for my car, and I was just wondering if anyone knew how long you have to act on a recall, and how you even go about doing it.

Thanks

You can go in any time and have recall work done on your car.

Be ready for the dealer to deny any knowledge of the recall. Just be sure and print out any info you have to take with you.

So, they can't deny the claim even if I was not the current owner at time of recall? I am thinking about at least going and getting this stuff checked out because the people who owned this car before me were kinda dumb when it came to maintence and upkeep on the car (outside of oil changes) and I talked to them and they said they never checked up on any recalls, so I hoped on the FAQ, found the recall list and checked up on it, but they are from years ago and I've only owned the car for 7 months.

Do they still have to fix it? If so, I'm calling the stealership at lunch and making an apointment hehe

A recall (not a TSB) is usually safety related. I don't think they ever expire.

Yeah, they never expire. I had the emissions recall done on my '96 less than a year ago. I called Nissan consumer affairs first to confirm. They asked me for my VIN and they'll tell you what recalls are still open. If I recall correctly they also asked me what dealership I was going to take it to so they would be notified.

Cool deal. I might get a new alternator outta this deal

As long as it isn't flagged and the previous owners didn't happen to go ahead and get a new one and don't remember it... hehe its only from 2002, so its not that old anyway.

Im on the phone with the Nissan customer place now ... they couldn't find my VIN number and then he asked me for my last name and then put me on hold ...

if the FBI shows up at my work looking for me, I'm going to and killing someone after work.

THank goodness. He just wanted to welcome me into the Nissan family and give me a bunch of info and get my address and what not so they can send me a notice incase of more recalls, and it turns out the Alternator was replaces and there are no open recalls on my car.
Woo.

It scared me there for a minute though cause he got all shady saying there was no record of my VIN number .... I guess his supervisor smacked his ***** *** and was like "Moron! Thats a 1 not an I!"
