Weird noise from front end
Hey guys,
Whenever I'm driving (ie. not standing still) my car makes a really weird "banging noise", and it's coming from the front end. It looks to be related to the wheels since it's like a cycle (ie. it appears to be making the noise once every wheel turn, more or less). When Under braking, the noise is louder, and when accelerating, the noise stops or is barely noticable. And so I belive it's a moving part which is sticking to the wheel, brakes, axle (or whatever) under braking, and seperating when accelerating. It does this ALL the time. I can't get under the car (too much snow everywhre, and no garage). I want to bring it to a shop but was wondering if any of you every had this?
By the way, I had my CV boots replaced not too long ago (didn't rebuild the axles). Could this be CV relate? Thanks guys.

Maybe a pad is rusted to the rotor? I got a banging/thumping sound when I hit the brakes that started out fast and slowed down as I came to a stop. If that's the case, you can resurface or replace the rotor.

I had this sound when the tire place forgot to put my lug nuts on. They had one finger tight and the rest sitting on the floor in their shop.
If I was accelerating, the sound was almost non-existent as there was enough tension to keep the wheel from banging. I'd only hear it if coasting or braking.
Granted, I didn't spend a lot of time testing... just long enough to get a mile from the shop, realize things were terribly wrong, and drive back.

In my case it was the shop forgot to put the bottom bolt on the caliper, so everytime i braked the caliper would move back and hit my wheel. Make sure your caliper bolts are tight! When you brake does the brake pedal vibrate? If so it could also be your rotors, you should get them resurfaced.
