Qustions about Dealer Fraud
Hey guys iam wondering if a dealer sold you car and said it was clean had clean carfax and assures quality carfax is clean but car was hit hard and repainted everywhere can this be a case? also if car has marks on the bottom in same places from a frame machine and a paint meter wsint used when car was being purchased at a auction also if other cars he sells he may do odemeter fraud

Did he just tell you the carfax was clean? He should of printed one out to show you and if not, you should of asked for one. If it looked like it had been in an accident, but he told you it was clean without any hard evidence, why would you believe him?

Of course it can happen, the car may have gotten into an accident and they never made a report or it could be stolen with a different VIN#...
Odometer fraud is a federal crime... if hes trying to screw you over I'd report him...

carfax gets its information about accidents from insurance companies... if it was never reported to an insurance company, how could they be liable? On the other hand if that was not the case then you have a case... Find out more info on the car.. previous owner, blah blah and find out.

ACtually not all the time. From what I see, carfax pulls their info from the State. And the state only sees information like if it was stolen, mislead mileage, totalled etc...
So this car could have had significant damage when it was newer and it would never show up on the carfax. (because it's value was still high enough not to totall it and show up on carfax)

I know one dealer that rebuilds cars, I have always suspected odometer fraud but can't verify. But he is honest enought to say the car was in an accident and was fixed up. If I was you I'd complain to the better business bureau or maybe contact a lawyer who's experienced in this kinds of matters. If true they can shut him down... hopefully.
One thing I can say, if you suspect you car was previously stolen and with all those clues you found, it most likey was stolen. I bet you got a nice deal on that car didn't you?

Wow, delaerships seem to get more and more crooked as the days pass.
If you know it has been in an accident before then get proof of that and keep that, get as much proof as you can to prove what you need proved, and take it to a lawyer BBB, who ever and make a case and get them shut down, because sadly not everyone has an org to go to, or just the knowlege to tell that has been in an accident or anything and so they go on not knowing and maybe encounter all kinds of problems down the line.
Shut them Down.

I doubt you will compensation for it. Its not like normal accident type situation where it was his fault and he would pay you for the repairs. The repairs have been made and likely the insurance company will say "well its already been fixed, so what are you exactly asking for?" Unless you can prove it was in an accident before you bought it AND that he lied to about it not being in an accident, then sorry to say you might not be able to do much.
