Stalling

I have a '97 maxima se. It stalls on me all the time. i'll be driving and it will stall. but i can put the car in neutral, while in motion, and start it again.

i first thought it might be the battery or something, so i changed the battery, and the car started running fine. for a few weeks, until the same thing happened again.

so i went to the mechanics, and they hooked it up to there computers and did all the diagnostics. and found nothing wrong with the car. they reset my computer. and said everything would be fine now. but that didnt do a thing, it started happening again, ten minutes after i left the shop.

i dont know what it is. i'm thinking maybe the alternator, or a short in the wiring. someone please help.

Start by cleaning the throttle body and the IACV valve.

wat do you mean by stall. is it when ur just at idle at a stop sign or when you let go of a gear from higher rpm? pop starting makes it easier but might kill ur starter faster.

the engine just dies, when every it pleases. while in motion or while at a stand still.

I was having similar probs with my 96 I30. It was the engine coolant temp. sensor. Good luck!!!

Would a bad engine coolant temp sensor throw codes? After reading all these threads regarding hard to start, I'm thinking mine could be that sensor. I'm not getting any codes, but ewvery time when the car is cold I need to pump the gas peddle a few times so the engine turns over. When the car is warm it starts perfectly. There definitely isn't anything wrong with the starter.
