Power door locks relock

Having an intermittent problem with power door locks relocking on my 97 Max. I remotely unlock the door and it will lock before I can open it. As well, the doors locks will lock while I am driving sometimes. I can hear a clicking sound coming form the dash when this occurs. The problem seems to be less likely to occur if I turn the domelight to off for some reason.

Anyone seen this behavoiur before?

jiggle the driver and passenger door lock manually. That fixed it for me.

Yup, in my case it was the battery going bad. For some reason, the power door locks seem to be the first voltage-sensitive system in the car to act up when the battery is on its last legs.

Thanks Hrap, very likely it's the battery that is slowly going. I was told that before winter by a mechanic but the car has had no problems cranking until today when it was really cold. You had the exact same symtoms?

I have a '98 GXE with power doorlocks (but not remote access). I think the remote part probably doesn't matter in this case. The symptom I had was that immediately upon unlocking the door it would relock - in a fraction of a second. It was actually a challenge to unlock the door and get it opened. I didn't have any symptoms while the car was running, and don't recall any clicking from the dashboard. But at a minimum I'd check the battery to see if it is the likely culprit. (And, I had the problem twice, in different years, with two different batteries - mine was one of the '98s with a flaky alternator and it slooowwwly ruined the batteries).

Just did a quick test with a "lighter battery tester". Battery looks weak. Sounds like the culprit. I will swap it and post back. Is there some way to find out if I have the same alternator?
