Yeah, silicone in a spray can. I used Lithium in a spray can on my 93 Max and that was good too. I was looking for something that dried after application, and both of them did that. Otherwise, stuff like WD-40 will gunk up.
Carnal, good to see u home.

I never thought about doing that. I live in constant fear of the antenna getting stuck.

You really don't want lube on your antenna, just keep the metal shaft clean using WD-40 and a rag. The plastic spline & gear that unwinds and winds back up inside the shaft is enclosed in the motor assembly and loaded up with white grease. Thats the part that fails causing your antenna to stop working. If anything you might open up that unit to clean and regrease it. You have to take the antenna assembly out of the trunk to work on it. Make sure you don't loose any parts when you take the cover off.

thanks for the info folks.

njmaxseltd, can we use thicker grade grease to lubricate the antenna so when the antenna pull down it can lubricate the motor with repetition of wind and unwind?

haha my antenna was so covered in crap and thats why it was stuck so this did a good job in cleaning and lubricating it but i assume wd40 would do just as good
