Need help with Exhaust

I need some help. I have a 96 SE and I have an emitions test coming up. Right now I have a hole in this thing:

A) What is this called?
B) What do I need to replace this?
c) Should I get a Y pipe?
D) honestly, how much is this going to run me?

Thanks for the help everyone.

Flex section. Buy a flex from epiflex.com. Either 2layer or 3layer. Should be under 40 bucks. Then you have to get it welded in, so that is another 10-30. Meausre yours so you can tell them. For the diamiter, it will be 2.5 for aftermarket ypipe and 2.25 for OEM.

that an aftermarket y-pipe? that looks like the flex section of an aftermarket Y...so you can either get a new y-pipe ($200) or you can get exhaust wrap for like $50 i think (not sure how much)...

That picture is from an aftermarket y-pipe. But the flex section looks the same as the one on my car. As far as I know I don't believe I have a aftermarket y-pipe.

Since it is stock, you might as well upgrade and get an aftermarket Y-pipe. It will give you more power. MPG stays the same, might even increase.

thats a flex pipe. yes get a y-pipe, unless you are not into going fast or whatever. you will not fail emissions with your flex pipe like that. mine was much worse and i passed my emissions test fine.
