I'm down two two tires. Since I live in the Chicago metro area wet/snow performance are important to me. I think I will either get the BFG CompTA VR4s or the Dunlop Sport 5000s any thoughts?

Just got the SP5000's

for my wife's car. 1995 GXW with 99 five spoke SE wheels.
A world of improvement over the stock all season goodyears.
Better ride and superior grip - even in the wet stuff.
Braking dramatically improved. Even the wife said something which is amazing.
on Snow and slush they should be fine. Have yet to see any of that stuff this year.

DUNLOPS or BUST ......

....in your case. The BFG G Force KDWs are a tread-keepers nightmare!! (Buddy has Contour SVT with them...year old, already needs tires)!
If only you lived in a nice dry place like CA. Then you could behold the power of cheese...um, I mean Kumho Ecstas.

dunlops are 100$

sport sp 5000, allseason z's.tread rating 340,A temp rating.100$ at discount tire and tirerack, or i would say get snow tires, in chicago it gets pretty rough, don't it,just buy a set of snowie's and a set of 15" rims stock,(4), and just replace them when the weather channel says blizzard. haha , hey i hope you make a good decision, have a good nite.and take it light as we used to say in the 70's.is the dunlop 9000 a allseason tire?

Comp T/A VR4 vs SP Sport 5000

I have the Dunlops on my 4th Gen, and the VR4s on my wifes Contour SVT. Both do decently in the snow. I like the SP Sport 5000 more though. It's not apple to apples considering the nature/weights of the cars, different widths of tires, etc. SP Sport has W speed rating and higher treadwear. Though you usually can't compare treadwear ratings, bith Tire Rack and Discount Tire both stated that Dunlop _underrates_ their tires.

Snow is less of an issue in Philly than Chicago. I'd consider snows/summers. If _forced_ to go all-season, SP Sport 5000 is my only choice. When the BFGs wear out, they'll be replaced by Dunlops
