UPS deliever my 17" Konig Tantrums today. They are 17x8" Tantrums on 235/45ZR17 Dunlop SP 9000. one major thing: they are heavy! Kevin, I thought you said they weren't that heavy? 48lbs with the Dunlops! Although, I'm not completely sure if my home scale is right, it's known to be a bit off track. I haven't mount them yet. It's ok, I don't plan to use these when I go to the track. Yes, I know I am slow because I have an auto, but I still try my best at the track. Will the weight stay the same or will it change once I mount them on and drive until they are break in? One thing I do like, they are much easier to clean than my old 18" ADR rims. Here are a pic of one of the Tantrum and Dunlop.

The packaging wasn't that great. There one thin round cardboard on the inside of the rim and two thin round cardboard on the outside of the rim, to protect the main surface of the rim. Then, it is held together by plastic ties and tapes. I'm going to reuse these materials when I ship out my 18s.

23 lbs for the Tantrums
48 lbs Total

48 - 23 = 25 lbs for the tires

Not my fault you picked heavy tires.

Looks good, Mr. Da Fay Gay!

Blake, I got rid of the 18s because I thought they were heavy. LOL! Doh! Actually, I just wanted something different. I been having those 18s for such a long time. I got tired of them, so we got a divorce.

You're right Kev. I spend all the time searching about the the weight of the rims, but forgot all about the tires. Oh well, at least they are really good tires.

Kev or Jane:

Do you know how much your Tantrums weigh with tires? I assume you got lighter tires?

Haven't weighed them, but all I know is they're lighter than my stock 17's with RE92's.

I went to the Dunlop site and found out the tire weigh 24.5 lbs. Maybe I should have done this first.

Couldn't find the stats for the 235/45/17 SP 8000.

I first tried dunlop.com...nope. Then, I tried dunloptires.com....nope. Finally, I said let see what happen if I take the s off, it worked!

Strangely though, they don't the weigh of the size and type of your tire. No 17s, all were 18s and up.

I have a question. Before I mount the Tantrums on, do you think it's a good idea to detail them first? I was thinking that maybe I should put some polish on them, that way, maybe it can prevent less brake dusts going sticking onto them. Is that a good idea? This way, I can polish them easier since they are not mounted yet, especially polishing the inside part of the rims. I want to take real good care of these rims. My previous rims, I didn't take so good care of them, which was a dumb mistake on my part. Let me know. Thanks.

Yeah 50lbs is normal for this rim and tire. . . Mine are being shipped tothe body shop to be put on my car as I figured I might as well get rims if they have to replace the front 2 and tires anyway. UPS tracking says there is 4 boxes weighing 50lbs each.

Oh and did you get tuner lugs and locks for them? Wasn't sure if they are necessary, I was told they were but not sure. If so, can the stock lug wrench be used or do you need to find another one?

I'm going to reuse the tuner lugs and locks that I already have. It's the McGard lugs and locks, it's very unique looking. I'll take some pics soon to let you all see. I use a torque wrench to put the lugs and locks back on, there are two special keys that go with the McGard set.

Ok, I guess my scale was a bit off. The actual weight of the wheels and tires are 46.6lbs. according to UPS. It's still not light, but lighter than old 18s, which are 49lbs.

Cool, I got both locks and lugs just in case, but was worried that I spent more than I had to because they wouldn't have been needed.

I'm in the process of mounting them on. The key to the lock nut broke, so I have to get a new one. After that, I'll post some pics up after they get mounted. I just put on two of the new rims and it already looked tight!
