I had a leak in radiator just changed it with a new one.I replace ever hose to the right spot started the car (1995 maxima) temp o.k drives forward but does not want to go in reverse gear and if it catch the transmission starts to shake.Help

 

My only guess is that the radiator fluid leaked into the tranny... VERY BAD NEWS if this actually happened.

Try draining the fluid ASAP and put in new fluid and see if that helps.

Were there any problems before?

 

only way it could have been caused by the tranny swap is like bags said, fluid getting into the transmission. it could get on various parts, that would cause slipping...but that sort of binding and shaking sound odd. any noises or grinding? also, if you had a shop do the install (doesnt sound like it from the brief description) make them deal with it...they broke your transmission!

 

Thanks for the info.but this car has no been in a shop for 3 years I do want I can on it, the day it was driven home I saw antifreeze leaking form the top of the radiator bought a new radiator relpaced it same day never had a tranny problem one hour job in garage try back out and no reverse.changed the fluid and nothing.runs through all the forward gears fine.
