CAI or not to CAI

I need a new airfilter for my 99SE. I was thinking about putting in a K&N air filter. The cost of some CAI kits however, with K&N cone filters, are around the same price as the K&N replacement filter for the stock airbox.

For example take a look at this kit on ebay: #7946228153 or #7947217725.

I'm not after the horsepower gains because I not going to replace my exhaust any time soon. I'm more interested in the improved throttle response and fuel economy gains. Is the CAI K&N system a better choice over replacing the stock airbox filter with a K&N stock fit filter?

I'd like to hear for guys who have both if possible to give your opinions. I'm sure it's been asked before, but perhaps a fresh set of eyes wouldn't hurt.

If all you want is the fuel economy/better response, I think just the K&N panel would be fine for you as the noise increase is annoying after a while. But that's just my opinion.

The 2 links are the same design, which Place Racing Style. The Best Intake IMO. There is nothing that beats the CAI sound.

This one is a good deal. I say go for it

If you don't care to mod, just get a panel filter. The CAI isn't hard but it can take an hour or 2.
