What octance do you use and why?
Im just wondering what everyone recommends for their Maxima. I have a 97 SE 5 spd. I put 93 octance in it for about a month after being told taht for my a Maxima, 87 should be used. What do you all use and waht have you noticed as far as performance/reliability/gas miles etc...

Its been proven on here that you should use at least 91. Keeps your engine from knocking allowing for more aggressive timing.

Ever read the Manual?
91+ Octane only.
Lower grade gas hinders performance. Makes your car run on safe mode. Can cause misfires which leads to carbon build up. Messes up your knock sensor, O2 sensor, catalic converter.
Spend the extra 20 cents on gas.

I use 93 octane; something that should be done on all high-compression engines to prevent predetonation.

I am currently doin a test myself, tracking MPG gonna run 87 for 4 fillups and then 93, and compare my mileage, performance etc. I have used both previously, and havent noticed a difference yet, thats without tracking mpg. I am bone stock, no mods.
