Remote Starter Question

Remote Starter Question
Hi,
I'm interested in getting a remote starter for my 95' Maxima GLE cause it would just make it so much easier throughout these Canadian winters. I don't want to replace anything, only ADD a remote starter on meaning I'd like to keep the original Nissan remote for unlocking/locking the doors and opening the trunk and also keep the original alarm system as well and just simply want one extra keychain remote for the remote starter function only. Is this possible or would I have to install a new alarm system/use one remote for the starter and door locks, etc.? Can the remote starter somehow bypass the factory alarm system and then just require the key to later move the car?
-Hope I didn't mix up my thoughts too much there
-Ben

Yea you could do that but the only thing is that you would have to unlock you car then remote start it. I believe that is what u have to do. But then like u said u wana do have that other key chain for the keyless, alarm, trunk pop, and if u have the window down feature.

definitly look at DEI's Avital 4000 model remote starter. It will allow you to retain the factory clickers. I install these all the time and NEVER have a return or comeback from them.
or you can go with the Viper 160xv:
this system eliminates the use of your stock remotes and gives you twice the range.
**Keep in mind you WILL LOOSE the window roll down feature if you go with the Avital 4000**
With ANY add on remote starter... you will need to grab a door lock motor wire. You can pick between Lock or Unlock as an input(both which are located in the drivers door at the switch) and once the max is running(remote start mode) you will loose the ability to use the factory remote, so most of the time i wire these systems to Unlock Motor rather than Lock motor... that way you can jump into the car and be on your way, rather then taking your key out and opening the door. By using the factory remote you can choose the number of times you hit Unlock or Lock to activate the remote start. The most common is 3 hits of unlock on your remote to start the car. This system also comes with a Factory Alarm disarm wire output... which means it will disarm your stock alarm system when the remote start is engaged, this avoids the cars horns and what not from goin off when the car is first started. Hope this info helps, any other questions shoot me a PM.

I have a Viper 791 but honestly, after reading posts about how bad it is letting your car warm up for a certain period of time, I regret spending that amount of $$.
Yeah, I think it's cool having the remote pager and the remote start feature but now that I think about it, I should have spent that $$ somewhere else.
In the cold weather, start your car up and let it sit for about 30seconds. Then drive off but try not to rev above 2k rpm until the your engine's temp needle starts to rise.
