Well my power antenna wont go all the way down anymore so I am thinking of replacing it with one that is always up but much smaller and doesnt have a motor but goes in th same place as the old antenna. One of those aftermarket ones they sell at tweeter.
sorry I couldnt find a pic I hope people know what I am talkign about.
well i had a couple of questions
1.first if you have one these could you post a pic
2.how is the reception with one of these.

I dont want a motor driven one I had like three on my Integra I was just waiting for this one to go like all, these cheap motor driven anntenas do so I can replace it with a stationary. I know if I replace it it is just gonna end up meesing up again.

our cars have built in antenna's in the back windshield. im tired of having the remote control car look when i have my radio turned on so i just unplugged the antenna power wire behind my deck and my reception is still good.

My reception sucks without my power antenna hooked up. I'm actually ordering a used antenna motor assembly for less than $40 from car-part.com. If I'm thinking of the correct antenna types, well, it looked sh!tty on my car, and you will also either need a converter and/or run an extension wire all the way to your headunit, because the "female" part of the antenna wiring does not fit on the male part that was connected to the power antenna. Going back to the looks dept., it did not flow whatsoever, and just stuck out luck a sore thumb. Then, I started noticing many GM beaters were sporting the same antenna that I had, and couldn't stand it. I actually think duct tape over the antenna hole looks better, which is what my car has been wearing for a while now.
edit: now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know if I'm talking about the same kind of antenna -- it was like 12" tall, one of the black, rubber, flexible ones

well to fill the whole you have to deal with the labor to fill it, which is probely not to much, but you have to paint it! Painting sucks. I am looking for something smaller to replace mine as well cause i hate the whole up/down thing.
Ludicris was the other to have the roof mount antenna, but if i remeber correctly it was not functional.

When I used to install car electrinics, our shop had fuba style antennas. We installed it on my boss' ford probe. i was amplified, small, black, fit fine, and worked well. I wish i knew the brand.

Just get satellite radio and leave it down.
You can disconnect the antenna by reaching into where the jack is kept and disconnecting the plug on the antenna motor. If you leave the single black one that looks kind of like an RCA (only not really
) it will leave the signal going to the radio, but the antenna won't go up.

We DO have 2 antennas, look at a 95/96 Bose HU, it says Diversity right on it.The HU uses the better signal for better reception.
The main motorized antenna is also connected to the factory keyless entry.

See the 2 prongs for the stock wires? well they are there.
Need more proof? Turn on the rear defrost on a cold morning, you will see another grid that doesnt defrost.... because it is an antenna!
But you are correct, unplugging the one connector will disconect BOTH antennas.
Mike:
The fuba style antenna will fit the factory hole and will look stock when angled correctly

I have a new s2000 antenna laying around somewhere. Still in OEM package from HONDA, bought from the dealership. I was considering changing it, but decided not to mess around with it anymore. PM me if you are interested.
