I gotta GLE. It got everything but Bose (doesn't matter cuz got a new system ne-wayz), leather, and rims.

SXE is the best model.

 

GLE is considered highest (most expensive, although not the most popular) but you can find an SE with everything a GLE has + more but in general public and nissan themselves, its not considered highest...

but we all know SE's own GLE's

 

I see the GLE as the fat, rich Maxima.

 

GXE is the base model, GLE is the luxury model, and SE is the sport model having stiffer suspension and different motor mounts

 

the GLE also has different motor mounts, electronic motor mounts.

 

SE's own because you can have everything the GLE has + manual tranny and thicker front sway bar/better suspension. GXE's are fine as long as you get the SE spoiler. The cool thing with GXE's is that they are the lightest and that without sunroof, the body is stiffer. The curb weight for a 1996 GXE is 2885 lbs, base. SEs tend to be 2900-3000 while GLE's are like 3100. People who want to pimp with heavy 18" and 8000 watt boom boxes tend to have GLE's.

Anyone buy their Max brand new? During the years of 95-99, didn't the SE have the lowest sticker? And the GLE had the highest?

anyone who thinks that the GLE is top of the line is DEAD wrong. GLE comes with most of options STANDARD.

Topped out SE = ALL GLE options + more goodies. therefore topped out SE's are the best.

 

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, all GLE's came with Bose. Therefore I'm afraid you have a GXE (not that there's anything wrong with that).

i'm not even sure myself. unfortunately I bought it from my uncle. he does bodywork and buys salvaged and used cars from auctions. the back of the car used to be totalled so what he did was took the entire back off another Maxima and bolt/weld it onto the car. I know, sounds crazy but no problems. It didnt have the radio at all so i wouldnt know if it was bose or not. however the back duz hav the GLE emblem and has bose speakers. the front however i checked and had panasonic speakers. the seats are cloth. it came with no rims. however it duz have a sunroof.

 

So where did he add on the new car? I guess you have half GLE, half GXE .

 

Every damn one of you is WRONG! I sold Nissan from 93-99. The GXE was the lowest model, the highest price was the GLE and the middle was the SE. GLE models came standard w/ Bose, leather, wood trimmed interior, and liquid filled motor mounts ( hence the squishy ride ). A loaded SE was comparably priced to a GLE. Factory moonroofs were optional on ALL models. Only standard features in the SE is foglights, spoiler, and 5 spoke wheels, white gauges. Sunroof, Bose, leather, auto climate control, which was called the cold weather package, heated seats, outside mirrors, and auto climate control, were all optional on the SE model. Any other questions regarding options, you now know who to ask.

my dad bought the max new in april of 99 and gave it to me not to long ago, and he got it as an se-limited, with bose, charcoal cloth, and in the limited lakeshore blue color, and everything the se-l came with. and guess what the price was.........................$19,000 flat. thats $8,000 down from the original sticker price of $27,000.......aint maximas great.

 

Yea that means the dealer was desperate to give it away... check out the kbb of it now Yup maximas are great

 

well not really. my dad actually was good friends with the guy, and the se-limited had just came out. the kbb for mine is about $8,000 now but if i sell independently, i can get a couple more for it, but thats not anywhere in my future.........i love my max..

 

when i purchased my se loaded with everything(leather,moonroof,bose,climate/heat seat etc.)in 99/ it cost more than the sticker price 99 gle. plus i didn't like the gle cause it didn't have a wing. now i want a trunk with no wing.
