speed rapidly declines after i take off my foot from the gas pedal

well, after i reach about 65 (and over) mph i get to about 3 rpm and when i take my foot off the gas the speed starts to decline very fast... i dont know if this is a real problem or im just being paranoid , but i never noticed this before...i also changed the boots before i noticed this , this might not mean anything or it could be that the shop did something to cause this when they installed them... any help will be greatly Appreciated

Frozen calipers means they are stuck "on" or stuck braking rather not that they are cold so no it won't get better, but if u don't notice any pulling in a certain direction when this occurs or grinding noise then i don't think thats the problem personally. Sounds like engine braking to me which is normal.

...and your parking brake is off too, right? Just making sure.

I'm with Tony...caliper stuck or normal engine braking.

A common problem with maxes is the E-brake. It could be sticking because of the cold even though you disengaged it with the lever.

Very cold weather decreases tire pressure.
Low tire pressure gives more roll resistance.

It could be the torque converter too. My car sat for a week in a body shop and I noticed the same thing when I drove away. After driving it for a while, it seemed to coast normally.

engine braking + torque converter + rolling resistance= most likely normal.

(could be the frozen caliper too though)

Oops! wrong person, sorry I don't want to jinx you. There have been so many people on this forum wrecking their cars, it's hard to keep track of them all. Sorry man...

sounds like over drive is off, but u say its on. hmm, make sure the button is pushed in on the overdrive, i know on mine the button is kinda weird and it doesnt always work right, have to mess with it to get it to work right. other than that i say caliper.

no the od button is fine, i went on the high way and reached about 100 mph and the rpms were fine, if the od was off than the rpms would be crazy so i dont think its that...but thanks for the input
